Political transfer and posting should be stopped

Dear Editor,

Some transfer posting are done with political motive by manipulating the system by few narrow minded people of our society for their vested interest. In fact they are throwing out their frustration and limitation to the weaker section. The reality is that these people themselves expose their insecurity.

And it has regularly been observed that after every Panchayat and MLA election, the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh gets busy in preparing transfer posting order, instead of doing their regular duties, with the education department being top list. The department that has been deemed responsible to nourish the society from bad to good, ignorance to understanding, dark to light, the torch the society by means of spreading the society, is being mislead by the polity of some high profile politician.

Thus, I, on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh would like to appeal the Govt. A.P, please stop entertaining the transfer and posting of teaching staffs, just because of some phone calls and recommended note sheets. Only after verifying the facts they should take step. Because it is hampering the learning process of the students and directly has ill effect on our society.

Yours,

Rahubow Romin

The fight for statehood continues

The decision of central government to grant statehood to Telengana has given fresh hope to supporters of Gorkhaland and Bodoland in the North East region. These two places have witnessed movement for statehood from last many years. The picturesque Darjeeling region located in North Bengal was rocked for most of the 1980s by strikes and protests by the indigenous Gorkha community, who were demanding the area be turned into a separate state within the Indian union.

The movement ebbed in the late 1980s, when Darjeeling was granted some autonomy within its present state of West Bengal. But in recent week the Himalayan region has been shut down once again. Businesses and elite boarding schools are closed, transport suspended, and tourists have been sent away as Gorkha political leaders lead by enforce an indefinite strike in a ‘do or die’ push for statehood. Similarly the Bodo tribe of Assam has also intensified their demand for separate Bodoland state to be curve out from present Assam. The Bodoland movement has been bloody and it has lead to the loss of thousands of life. With both group not willing to relent from their demand, it will be interesting to see how respective state govt of Assam and West Bengal along with central government handle such emotive demands in the days to come.

Appin Technology Lab training students to reduce cyber security gap

ITANAGAR/NEW DELHI, Aug 22:  India is an information security powerhouse, but a closer examination reveals a stark reality. The country’s official information security workforce consists of merely 556 specialists positioned at various levels in the government, and this fact is supported by Union MoS (Telecommunications) Milind Deora, who accepted that cyber security attacks rose to 22,060 in 2012 from 23 in 2004.

The deficiency in cyber security manpower can be measured by the overwhelming difference when compared to other countries - China has 1.25 lakh experts, the US 91,080 and Russia 7,300. There is an immediate need for 5,00,000 information security professionals in India to combat the sophisticated threat that the country is facing, as laid out by National Cyber Security Policy, 2013.

Though cyber attacks on information technology infrastructure of government organisations rose marginally, Deora said in the Lok Sabha that cyber attacks, malware infection and targeted denial of service, are being increasingly reported by private users and government departments.

The mid-2000 marked the transition of computer/IT age to information-age with the advent of facebook and Google’s IPO, with that came requirements for manpower to counter the cyber security threats.

Around the same time, Appin Technology Lab started training students to gear up for these new-age careers in the information-age.

Its flagship course was a 6-month diploma program in information security that enabled students to be ‘appin certified security expert’. It came up with centres in Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Odisha, Tripura and West Bengal to fulfill the country’s immediate need for cyber security professionals.

ATL spokesperson Neha said: "Teaching computer-age or industrial-age courses in colleges will not help students get job in the information-age. Our vocational programs are geared towards preparing the facebook denizens for careers that will shape our society in coming decade."

While ‘Cyber security and information security’ (CS&IS) is all set to be introduced as a subject in higher and secondary education in the country, the GoI plans to hire around 5,000 information security experts who would impart training to create a larger dependable force of cyber experts across the country, top government sources said.

The recent spate of cyber attacks on Indian installations is another cause for extreme concern. Interestingly, cyber warfare is fast emerging as the fifth domain of warfare and India’s preparedness to deal with it is wanting. With a view to plug the gaping hole, quite a few private players have emerged and are providing training to aspiring students and turning them into talented information security professionals from across India and ATL is one such training ground.

Apart from imparting new-age information security tools, ATL also delivers hands-on technical workshops. Powered by expert consultants from the industry, who pool their intellect & resources to formulate a comprehensive security study material, this new-age entity provides great opportunity for students who are looking to fashion a career in the InfoSec domain.

Aimed towards the development of human resource in the area of information security at various levels, ATL, among other offerings, provides expertise in the field of Cloud computing, Internet reputation management, embedded robotics, mobile application development, human resource management, secured programming in microsoft .net and java.

Primary job opportunities that are available for students on completion of the courses, range from entry to mid-level positions not only in Information and communication technology industry, but also in automotive, ITES, banking, insurance, oil and gas, consulting, FMCG, manufacturing, construction and power sector.

Allegation against MLA condemned

ITANAGAR, Aug 22: The Congress party leaders and senior members of Tezu constituency have vehemently condemned Tezu-Sunpura Youth Association (TSYA) for leveling false allegation of land grabbing against their MLA.

Terming the allegation as false, baseless and an attempt to tarnish the image of the MLA, they appealed to the conscientious public of the constituency to make a diligent inquiry into the matter before succumbing to such cheap political stunts.

Further clarifying on the issue, they said that, “the land under Dag No.268 was officially allotted to JNV to establish residential school. However, due to changes in Govt. policy, the school was shifted to Mahadevpur. When the JNV was shifted, the land under question was given to various educational institutions to run school and colleges on temporary basis. When the aforesaid educational institutions were given permanent site, they vacated the land at Dag No. 268 and thereafter the land was lying unused for several years. The district administration later allotted major portion of the land to Agriculture Marketting Committee, District Education Institute (Lohit Valley School), Civil Aviation and to 11 individuals. Thus approximately 40 percent of the land has already been allotted to various Govt and private individuals. The remaining portion of the land under Dag No 268 is under the occupation of 39 local people for several decades. As such, the allegation leveled against the local MLA by TSYA is totally unfounded, baseless and misleading.”
