AVP celebrates Raksha Bandhan
ITANAGAR, Aug 22: Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) celebrated Raksha Bandhan throughout the state with great enthusiasm.
The workers of AVP visited army and GREF camps, medical premises at various places of the state and tied the “Rakhis”, as a sign of brotherhood and integrity.

Political transfer and posting should be stopped
Dear Editor,
Some transfer posting are done with political motive by manipulating the system by few narrow minded people of our society for their vested interest. In fact they are throwing out their frustration and limitation to the weaker section. The reality is that these people themselves expose their insecurity.
And it has regularly been observed that after every Panchayat and MLA election, the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh gets busy in preparing transfer posting order, instead of doing their regular duties, with the education department being top list. The department that has been deemed responsible to nourish the society from bad to good, ignorance to understanding, dark to light, the torch the society by means of spreading the society, is being mislead by the polity of some high profile politician.
Thus, I, on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh would like to appeal the Govt. A.P, please stop entertaining the transfer and posting of teaching staffs, just because of some phone calls and recommended note sheets. Only after verifying the facts they should take step. Because it is hampering the learning process of the students and directly has ill effect on our society.

Maro Govt Secondary School facing multiple problems
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would to draw the attention towards education scenario of Govt. Secondary school Maro, under Maro circle of Upper subansiri district. The said school is oldest in the district and today it faces multiple problems. The school running is with insufficient subject teacher and other staffs. Infact such is the situation that Assistant teacher (A/T) are compelled to engage in covering the syllabus of class higher secondary classes. Most of teachers have been transferred out from Maro secondary school and concern authority did not replace the vacant subject teacher. Besides in absence of computer teacher, the computer set is lying as decoration piece in the school.
The infrastructure of school is deteriorating day by day and we wonder where the fund for maintenance released by govt goes? We here appeal concern authority of district administration DDSE, local MLA and Director of school education to pay kind attention to the problem at the earliest please.

The fight for statehood continues
The decision of central government to grant statehood to Telengana has given fresh hope to supporters of Gorkhaland and Bodoland in the North East region. These two places have witnessed movement for statehood from last many years. The picturesque Darjeeling region located in North Bengal was rocked for most of the 1980s by strikes and protests by the indigenous Gorkha community, who were demanding the area be turned into a separate state within the Indian union.
The movement ebbed in the late 1980s, when Darjeeling was granted some autonomy within its present state of West Bengal. But in recent week the Himalayan region has been shut down once again. Businesses and elite boarding schools are closed, transport suspended, and tourists have been sent away as Gorkha political leaders lead by enforce an indefinite strike in a ‘do or die’ push for statehood. Similarly the Bodo tribe of Assam has also intensified their demand for separate Bodoland state to be curve out from present Assam. The Bodoland movement has been bloody and it has lead to the loss of thousands of life. With both group not willing to relent from their demand, it will be interesting to see how respective state govt of Assam and West Bengal along with central government handle such emotive demands in the days to come.

CBI makes fresh arrest in Wangcha Rajkumar murder case

A CBI team, camping in Jorhat since August 20, sought the help of local police to arrest the militant leader.
The CBI had been tipped off by intelligence agencies that the Hormi would be travelling to Jorhat.
A trap was laid with the help of police and the vehicle carrying him was intercepted, the CBI said.
Hormi was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jorhat, who sent him to five days of transit remand of CBI.

Road safety tips imparted to school children
ITANAGAR, Aug 22: The Road Safety Cell of Police Headquarters here today conducted an awareness camp to educate the school going children about road safety and traffic rules at government middle school ‘D’ sector here today.

NHPC provides musical instruments to Vidyashree School under CSR
ITANAGAR, Aug 22: NHPC Limited provided some musical instruments like drums, syntheses, guitar, kongo, dholok, tabla ,octopad etc. to Vidyashree School, Tawang under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme to promote art and culture among school children.
The music room equipped with those instruments in the school was inaugurated by Tawang Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Dev yesterday in presence of the General Manager, NHPC, Divisional Forest Officer, Tawang Brig. Ashok Singh and members of Women Welfare Association.
Vidhyashree School was founded at Chujje GG, Tawang in 2006 with the aim to reach out to the children of poverty stricken daily wage earners, stone breakers and GREF casual labourers. New fish species discovered in Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Aug 22: A new fish species, namely genus Garra has been discovered by an amateur naturalist Lakpa Tamang, a former staff member of GB Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED), North East unit in Upper Siang district from a tributary of Siang River about 3 km from Bomdo village en route to Tuting recently.
According to Dr. PP Dhyani, GBPIHED, this fish species was the first to be discovered under the genus from Upper Siang district, and is new to science. The species was recently published in a reputed Germany based international journal “Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters”, he said.
Tamang has described the species taxonomically and designated the name as Garra magnidiscus (in Latin ‘magnus’ means large and ‘discus’ means disc).
The fish has been deposited in the Zoological Survey of India, Itanagar.

3rd business meeting of PMC held
PASIGHAT, Aug 22: The third business meeting of Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) was held at the DC’s Conference Hall here today. Various issues related to development of the Pasighat township were discussed in the meeting attended by all the councilors and HoDs.
Chairing the meeting, Chief Councilor Denong Tamuk reiterated the civic bodies responsibilities in making their township a prosperous and healthy place to live and work in.
He informed that a City Development Plan has been prepared by the Urban Development department for balanced and sustainable development of the township.

Further clarifying on the issue, they said that, “the land under Dag No.268 was officially allotted to JNV to establish residential school. However, due to changes in Govt. policy, the school was shifted to Mahadevpur. When the JNV was shifted, the land under question was given to various educational institutions to run school and colleges on temporary basis. When the aforesaid educational institutions were given permanent site, they vacated the land at Dag No. 268 and thereafter the land was lying unused for several years. The district administration later allotted major portion of the land to Agriculture Marketting Committee, District Education Institute (Lohit Valley School), Civil Aviation and to 11 individuals. Thus approximately 40 percent of the land has already been allotted to various Govt and private individuals. The remaining portion of the land under Dag No 268 is under the occupation of 39 local people for several decades. As such, the allegation leveled against the local MLA by TSYA is totally unfounded, baseless and misleading.”

He urged the administrative officers to monitor all the projects in their respective jurisdiction and submit the report. He also urged the work departments to update on the projects undertaken to the user departments. The work departments were asked to hand over the schemes to the user agency as and when the work got completed so that the objective of the project was achieved.
The executing agencies were also asked to coordinate and discuss with each other before taking up any new schemes to avoid duplicity of schemes.

Alleging East Kameng LRSO and SK of not assessing the properties of land affected people for the portion of road which falls under Pakke Kessang as per the guidelines and nepotism by sanctioning huge amount for their kith and kins, the association in a memorandum submitted to the chief minister claimed that huge amount of money has been sanctioned against people, who in actual do not have much moveable and immovable properties. In some cases, people without having a single plot of land have been sanctioned huge amount depriving the genuine and deserving ones.
It further demanded for suspension of the LRSO and SK till verification and justification of the actual facts.
